70 years of history in the making

60 years of history STONE Industrie's history dates back to 1951 and the village of Nivolas-Vermelle in the Isère department.
Mr Bouttaz was only 25 years old when he decided to take over a mechanical workshop from a craftsman: Gaston Pépoux.

Mr Bouttaz, Mr Pépoux and an apprentice carried out agricultural mechanical work for the surrounding businesses. One day, they discovered the prototype of a machine for washing recycled bottles at the back of the workshop, so they decided to rework it.

This is how STONE Industrie was born, at the time it was a major player in the construction of washers for the French market.

Expertise in bottling equipment

STONE Industrie then  moved on to the manufacture of semi-automatic brush washers for full bottles, before it began to produce small bottling units ranging from 1 000 to 2 000 bottles/hour. Later, these washers were expanded to include automatic washers based on the same economic and ecological principle.

In the 1980s, bottling equipment was developed for industrial bottlers and traders with capacities of 2 000 to 10 000 bottles/hour. The company supplied rinsers, fillers, cappers and sealers. In addition, STONE Industrie worked together with an Italian labelling company, which enabled them to offer complete bottling lines, including the first complete mobile lines.

In 1988, the former CEO Mr. Bouttaz retired and decided to sell his company to his managers.

After that, STONE Industrie continued to develop its equipment range so as to be able to offer a vast choice of machines to its customers: rotary rinsers, inert gas dosers, fillers, cappers, monoblocs and casings.

A new lease of life for STONE Industrie

On October 12, 2010, the Alsatian manufacturer of small and medium speed bottling machines COSTRAL  acquired STONE Industrie, giving it a new lease of life. Frédéric Kuhlmann became the president of STONE Industrie. Thanks to this takeover, the company saw its turnover grow and its workforce increase to 34 employees.

STONE Industrie is consequently specialised in high-speed bottling, and will complete the full range of the Made in France Alliance , which STONE Industrie joined in 2015.
The Made in France alliance brings together four French manufacturers in the bottling sector: COSTRAL, STONE Industrie, ALBAGNAC and BEDI. The common goal of this alliance is to offer complete bottling and packaging lines of up to 25 000 bottles/hour.

As a result of this new management, STONE can handle projects with an output ranging from 5 000 to 25 000 bottles/hour. With a complete fixed bottling line production but also mobile bottling lines (3 000 to 6 000 bottles/hour), STONE Industrie defines customised bottling excellence.
