Rinsing turret,
blowing and flushing

rinsing turret, empty bottle rinser

Located at the start of our high-speed monobloc bottling process, the rinsing, blowing and flushing functions are an initial key element in your bottling process.

In order to guarantee intact glassware and optimal packaging, STONE Industrie offers several solutions that can be combined or added according to your needs.

Choosing the right rinsing technique

Whatever your needs in terms of rinsing your new bottles, the choice of liquid is crucial.

In order to cover the various possible scenarios, STONE Industrie has developed and implemented innovative and proven rinsing technologies.

In this way, your future STONE Industrie monobloc will include a rinsing system using recycled water or clear water, which can also be replaced or preceded by a  sterilisation operation.

In this case, your bottles will be sterilised with a product such as peracetic acid.

Depending on your needs and constraints, we will work with you to define the most suitable rinsing technique for your project.

Let's talk about your project!

Are you thinking of creating a new bottling line, modifying an existing line or installing a new monobloc?

Air blowing, increasingly in demand

In a context where sustainable development and the desire to limit water consumption must be translated into practical action, there is an increasing demand for air blowing.

Distilleries are especially interested in air blowing because it avoids any water residue in the bottle that could lower the alcohol content.

To meet this need, the STONE Industrie teams have extensive experience in the development, manufacture and implementation of air blower turrets.

As such, the STONE Industrie turrets can perfectly combine blowing with rinsing within a single module. In this case, it is possible to blow filtered air or gas. We can rinse or blow out the empty bottles. The switch from one function to the other is managed via the touch screen and can be carried out quickly during the production day.

If the air blown is a neutral gas (e.g. nitrogen), the blowing phase is simultaneously combined with an inert gas purging operation.

Addition of the flushing function

Flushing is a widely requested function in the design of high-speed bottling lines for strong spirits.

In this particular case, the bottles are no longer rinsed with water or disinfectant (such as peracetic acid) but with alcohol.

Several scenarios are possible. Flushing can be conducted with the same alcohol used to fill the bottle (e.g. flushing with Cognac).
However, flushing with a neutral alcohol with the same alcohol content as the filling liquid is also quite common.

In any case, the alcohol used in bottle flushing is via a closed circuit so it can be recycled and filtered.

The STONE Industrie team will be happy to discuss your project and assist you in choosing the most suitable cleaning solution in your situation.

Let's not forget water and air filtration!

Filtration is also a key element perfected by STONE Industrie.

Whether it is air (blower) or water filtration, we know how to provide the right solution to guarantee a better quality of injected product and a better result for this operation which has become essential in certain geographical areas.

Operation of a STONE Industrie rinsing, blowing and flushing turret

Generally, a STONE Industrie turret for rinsing/blowing/flushing (depending on options) is also used for the internal cleaning of your new bottles:

  • The standard module provides an internal injection of cold water or hydroalcoholic liquid.
This injection is carried out on the first nozzles for lengthy draining.
The "sprinkler" is in 316L stainless steel, rinse water filtration is carried out by cartridge filters.
As ecology is at the centre of many investments, a water saving device can be offered as an option. In this case only 1/3 of clean water is injected in each cycle, which saves 2/3 of the usual consumption.
  • The dual-mode rinser (optional) enables the rinsing or blowing out of bottles with dried and degassed filtered air (activated carbon).
Depending on the bottle to be processed, the cycle is managed for a simple blowing or rinsing operation. In the case of blowing, the air flow rate is manageable and adaptable by the regulator for the most optimal consumption possible.
  • Flushing (optional) consists of an internal injection of a recycled and filtered alcohol product (the final product or an alcohol solution) (notably for spirits) to guarantee the quality of the final product.

For all these operations, automatic turret adjustment is dependent on the bottle size and is achieved by selection via a touch screen: electric height adjustment, electric adjustment of screw & rails.

In addition, the bottles are picked up at the neck and turned over the injection nozzles. Once the injection is complete, the bottles are tilted alternately to ensure optimum drainage.
Before the bottles are turned over to be placed on the conveyor. The drop aspiration system built into the rinsing machine pincers (rinsing or flushing mode) ensures that the last drop is sucked up before turning over so that it does not run down the neck. STONE Industrie rinsers are also fitted with pressure control by means of an analogue pressure switch and alarm thresholds that can be adjusted via the touch screen. As an option, we can also control the flow rate of the injected liquid.
